Leadership ARC
for Leaders of Color

The Leadership ARC for Leaders of Color is for people of color in management, leadership, and executive roles who are ready to deepen their personal and organizational equity work. This eight-week, small-group program provides space for learning, reflection, peer support, and action—all grounded in frameworks of intersectional justice and liberation. Together, we will develop strategies to leverage our unique leadership skills and cultural assets to help us shape the workplace around us as we navigate change, challenges, and complexity.

Why Develop Antiracism Skills in Affinity Spaces?

  • Challenging Systemic Barriers

Affinity spaces support leaders of color in navigating the unique challenges they face in management and executive roles. Together, the cohort will foster strategies for resilience and success in transforming inequitable structures.

  • Reflective Learning and Peer Connections

This community of practice provides space for leaders of color to deepen self-awareness and build confidence among peers with shared experiences — without the pressure of educating or accommodating white colleagues.

  • Equity-Driven Leadership Practices

Leaders will leave with actionable tools to center equity and justice in their decision-making, enabling them to challenge biases, manage fairly, and implement policies that create meaningful change.

Why Should Organizations Invest in this Development?

  • Drive Organizational Change through Equitable Practices

Investing in leaders of color aligns your organization’s practices with your values, centering the perspectives of the communities you serve. Growing these leaders grows innovative problem-solving approaches and frameworks that advance equity, sustainability, and better workplace culture. Participants will develop concrete tools to lead transformative, systemic change at all levels of their organizations.

  • Cultivate Resilient, Non-Oppressive Leadership Skills

Organizations thrive when leaders are skilled, resourced, and supported in their own growth and learning. This program empowers managers of color to challenge white supremacy culture in leadership practices, fostering healthier, more equitable work environments where everyone can thrive. Participants will grow their management skills and their ability to build accountable, collaborative relationships.

Notes from the Facilitators

  • Meiver De La Cruz

Leaders and managers of color need strategies for embodying their values within organizational structures that might not support them. Many of us also need tools to identify and unlearn violent ideas that we have inherited from colonial histories. This is courageous and critical work, and we have to do it together — with kindness and mutual support.

  • Janae Peters

Traditional leadership models are often rooted in oppressive systems, reinforcing authoritarian structures and rarely encouraging deep reflection on collective care or the need for systemic change. Leaders of color need spaces that center our lived experiences, understand our needs, and provide frameworks that support our growth and capacities as leaders.

  • TJ Jourian

Having participated in other cohort-driven programs, I know how fortifying and validating spaces like these can be — and how transformative. It’s essential for leaders of color to have space to connect with each other, make sense of our individual and collective experiences within our organizations, and envision alternatives together.

Sliding scale

This program is offered at a sliding scale. For participants who use professional development funds from their employer to participate, the cost is based on the organization’s budget (or the department’s budget in larger organizations):

  • $750 – recommended for organizations with annual budgets up to $500,000

  • $1500 – recommended for organizations with annual budgets between $500,000 and $2.5M

  • $2500+ – recommended for organizations with annual budgets over $2.5M

Honor system: For some organizations it might make sense to pay a lower or higher rate than recommended. For instance, if most of your budget goes to providing direct services and comes from restricted funding streams, you might pay a lower rate; on the other hand, if your organization has a small budget because it has a small staff, but the staff are highly-paid professionals, consider paying a higher rate.

Organizations have paid as little as $250 and as much as $3500. Having a wide and flexible sliding scale allows organizations that can afford it to support the program so that it remains available to organizations that can’t afford much.

For participants whose employers will not support their participation, there is a separate sliding scale for individuals paying out of pocket.

What are the goals of this cohort?

  • Build Resilient, Non-Oppressive Leadership Skills

Participants will develop leadership practices that challenge white supremacy culture, fostering non-oppressive, equitable leadership styles. They will gain the tools to navigate and influence their organizations while remaining grounded in values of equity, justice, and sustainability.

  • Foster Personal Growth and Peer Connection

The program will create a supportive space for participants to connect with peers, share experiences, and build self-awareness. This will strengthen both individual confidence and collective skills for navigating leadership roles in a white-dominant workplace culture.

  • Equip Leaders for Organizational Change

Participants will learn practical strategies to address white supremacy culture at personal and organizational levels. They will explore multifaceted approaches to problem-solving and leave with actionable tools for leading and sustaining long-term, systemic change within their organizations.
